Buckshot, a 40-year-old Appaloosa, was saved from near starvation 14 years ago. The
vet who originally examined him gave him a 50/50 chance of survival in the months following his rescue. Not only did
he survive for a decade and a half past what was expected, he has aged happily and still enjoys his life very much.
Well past normal life expectancy for any
horse, Buck is now partially blind and deaf. Because he is sickle-hocked, he was used very little in the school when
he was younger. He had an affinity for barrel-racing and still has a distinct personality despite his advanced years.
