Ben is a 27-year-old Morgan gelding. He was owned by a former student who was afraid to ride him before she began taking
lessons. When her family moved to Seattle, they were unable to keep him and therefore donated the then-18-year-old horse to
the Foundation because they knew how grim the fate of an older horse could be.
Ben is very stubborn but incredibly gentle. He has
arthritis in both of his hips and all four of his legs, which calls for regular stretching to keep him moving. He is now retired
from use due to his stiffness, but was one of the Foundation’s most reliable horses and is still a favorite.
