Ben is a 26-year-old Morgan gelding. He was owned by a former student, who was afraid to ride him before she began taking lessons. When her family moved to Seattle, they were unable to keep him and therefore donated the then-18-year-old horse to the Foundation because they knew how grim the fate of an older horse could be.

Ben is very stubborn but incredibly gentle. He has recently developed a problem in one hip that calls for regular massage and stretching to keep him moving. Despite his stiffness, however, he is still useable by younger riders.
