Satin Sheets, now around 25 years old, came from the Humane Society several years
ago. She was seized from a situation of neglect in which no one wanted to adopt her because of her age. She is a Thoroughbred
and a former racehorse, and a typical example of what happens to far too many horses that become "disposable" after
their short career of "service" in their youth.
Satin is an excellent jumper, as she probably had a jumping career sometime post racing,
and has taught many of our students the fundamentals of that as well as brought in a couple of ribbons. She was placed against
much younger horses and came in first place in her class.
She is also very calm and great with younger students, and is one of the most valuable
school horses the Foundation has. It is a wonder that a horse as beautiful, well-trained, and talented as this one could go
unwanted.
