The Sanctuary

After spending its first eleven years moving from boarding stable to boarding stable as it’s rescue herd grew, the Foundation moved to its permanent home in 2005, made possible by a combination of the generosity of one member family, grants and donations.

The 11.5-acre property in semi-rural Kitsap County, Washington, was originally a working dairy farm. The first year was dedicated to building a new 20-stall horse barn and refencing, followed in 2006 by construction of an indoor riding arena to house our education program.  A large walk-in shelter was later added to accommodate our growing resident herd and there is ample space for daily turnout that allows all our horses the freedom to just be horses and enjoy their lives.
